How can health care delivery systems work collaboratively to address global health concerns? Answer: Global health issue: Diabetes As stated by Garber et al. (2013), diabetes is a major health issue with increasing incidence globally. It is a disorder of pancreas where the beta cells are either dead or functions inefficiently. It involves the increase in the level of blood glucose in an individual. It is evident that worldwide around 18 million people dying of cardiovascular diseases are predisposed to it due to diabetes. There are around 350million people across the world living with diabetes (majorly Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus). The incidence of the other type of diabetes Type 1 DM is lower but it is more concerning in terms of threat to the patients life. Impact of Diabetes on healthcare system: Diabetes has a major impact on the healthcare system by increasing the burden of healthcare expense extremely. Studies show that in 2012 the diagnosed diabetes cases cost $245 billion which is comprise of the $176 billion of direct medical cost and $69 billion due to reduction in productivity (American Diabetes Association, 2015). Collaborative working of healthcare delivery systems addressing global health issues: The healthcare delivery systems as interdisciplinary health teams between different profitable and non-profit health organization can efficiently handle the global health issues as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, etc. Working in collaboration indicates the sharing of resources (physicians, infrastructures, etc) between two or more organization as an effective system to address the health issues.
